Understand photovoltaic glass and industrial development
Release time:
2023-07-13
With the development of industry, there are also various types of glass. Glass has excellent performance and can be applied to various occasions. There are painted glass and hot-melt glass suitable for indoor use, as well as tempered glass and laminated glass suitable for special occasions; There are also convenient and durable frosted glass and dimming glass, etc. Below we will introduce photovoltaic glass.
Introduction to Photovoltaic Glass:
Photovoltaic glass is a special type of glass that can generate electricity using solar radiation by laminating solar cells, and has related current extraction devices and cables. It has the advantages of beauty, controllable light transmission, energy-saving power generation, and does not require fuel, does not produce exhaust gas, has no waste heat, no waste residue, and no noise pollution. It is widely used, such as solar smart windows, solar pavilions, photovoltaic glass building ceilings, and photovoltaic glass curtain walls. Photovoltaic glass can be divided into two categories: crystalline silicon photovoltaic glass and thin film photovoltaic glass. Among them, crystalline silicon is commonly used in curtain walls, which can be further divided into monocrystalline silicon and polycrystalline silicon.
Application of photovoltaic glass:
Solar photovoltaic glass is a special type of glass that can generate electricity using solar radiation by laminating solar cells, and has related current extraction devices and cables. It is composed of low iron glass, solar cells, film, back glass, and special metal wires. The solar cells are sealed between a low iron glass and a back glass through film, making it a novel high-tech glass product for construction. Using low iron glass to cover solar cells can ensure high solar transmittance. Tempered low iron glass also has stronger resistance to wind pressure and the ability to withstand large temperature differences between day and night. Widely used in various fields such as building curtain walls, photovoltaic roofs, sun shading, solar power generation systems, and more.
Current situation and prospects of photovoltaic glass industry:
In recent years, the photovoltaic glass industry has developed rapidly. With the continuous production of lightweight components and new technologies, the thickness of cover glass will develop towards thin sheets. The market share of 3.2mm thick front cover glass will continue to be compressed. It is expected that by 2025, 2.5mm front cover glass will become the market share leader. The market share of front cover glass with thicknesses below 2.0mm will also rapidly increase. Meanwhile, for every 1% increase in the photoelectric conversion efficiency of solar cells, the cost of electricity generation decreases by 7%. To improve the efficiency of photovoltaic conversion, the key is to increase the transmittance of photovoltaic glass. Currently, the average transmittance of photovoltaic glass wafers in the industry is about 91.6%, and there will be significant improvements in the future. At present, the overall epidemic situation in China is under control, and the peak of the epidemic in some mainstream photovoltaic installation markets overseas has passed. Considering the construction progress of bidding projects and affordable projects in China from 2019 to 2020, and taking into account the release pace of photovoltaic demand such as household photovoltaics and ultra-high voltage bases, we expect that domestic demand is expected to recover strongly in the second half of the year. The annual installed capacity of domestic photovoltaics is expected to reach 45GW, and the prosperity is expected to continue until 2021. Among them, it is expected to achieve an installed capacity of over 20GW in Q4 2020, forming a temporary peak in installed capacity.
In short, with the development of industrial economy, the construction and decoration of cities have also developed. The characteristics of glass, such as transparency and durability, coupled with its beauty, make people more willing to choose glass, making buildings look beautiful and fashionable on the outside without affecting internal transparency. It can also be combined with some special materials to add some additional functions to glass, such as insulation and sound insulation. The photovoltaic glass introduced today is a witness to the development of industrial technology, and in the future, it will have better functions, regions, uses, and safety.
